In middle school my main buddy was Emilio Abadia. We would make mix tapes together and were inspired by Surfer Dave's "Progressive" radio show that aired once a week on 1380 AM. It was way back then when we decided we wanted to become DJs. Our own fictional radio station we came up with was JERS (Justin Emilio Radio Station). So we would write it on our mix tapes and draw it in our composition books next to drawing of all the band logos we liked like Dead Kennedys, NIN, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. One day I'll have to digitise some of those old tapes I still kept mixtapes, but tossed out 2 full huge garbage bags of cassette tapes a couple of years ago. Emilio now goes as "E-Six", and is now one of Chicago's Hottest DJs. He also produces remixes and original music. It's time for the 2nd annual Iron Sandwich Dance Party & Sandwich Battle Presented by Hot Temper Hot Sauce. Last year we through this party at our house in Wicker Park and it was an all out Rager! It got a little out of hand, so this year we are stepping it up and throwing the event at Reversible Eye Gallery. Reversible Eye is located at 1103 N. California Ave. (between Division and Augusta) http://reversibleeye.net/exhibitions/inde...x.html
Two "Sandwich Chefs" will go head to head on stage. We will be filming and projecting the battle on a screen so everyone can see the contest. There will be commentary, and guest judges. What will be this year's "secret ingredient"?
